Why Sheriff?
- Born in Puerto Rico to Palestinian American parents.
- Very diverse and understand the racial and discriminatory struggles of the minorities
- 23 years as a TEXAS peace officer and worked in different capacities (Patrol, field training, investigations, special tactical response teams, traffic and DWI/drug interdictions, community policing, and more).
- Highest rank I earned is Captain, retired and moved on to another agency where I was promoted Lieutenant.
- I have reformed and built several police departments in my tenure
- Trainer/coordinator at the police academy where I specialize in: Cultural Diversity, human trafficking, DWI/intoxicated driver, firearms verbal communications and de-escalation tactics, Traffic Code, Patrol Skills, Arrest & Control, Active Shooter training, Firearms, TASER Energy Weapons, and more.
- Security Trainer of several places of worship in N/TX
- Community service for over 25 years (Mentoring youth, youth program director
- Founder/VP of the Mesquite Islamic Center.

- To Change the Image of LE & Bridge Gaps with the community.
- Restore order at the county jail where officers and deputies are given back their respect and be allowed to do their jobs, not let the inmates be in charge.
- Combat Human/Drug Trafficking, DWI Fatalities, Cold Cases.
- Protection of places of worship
- To be the voice for the voiceless

· Re-arrange the command staff and hire the right person for the right position (I already have selected the command staff)
· ABOLISH nepotism and cliques within the Sheriff's Office and promote the right personnel to the appropriate position based on qualifications, not race or favoritism
· Have an MoU in place to reciprocate mutual aid with all agencies within the county and surrounding counties and DPS
· Solicit aid from the State Attorney General’s Office and the Governor as needed.
· Regular press conferences to make the public aware of the updates on crime fighting and other sheriff/community related issues.
· Hire more street deputies to cover the streets around the clock, and more correctional officers and clerks/civilian staff as needed (saves millions of dollars on mandatory overtime!)
(having 6 deputies per shift to cover the entire county is terrible, especially when they are not allowed to solicit backup from the closest agency when needed)
· Start a Lateral Academy for allow peace officers to join the DSO's own academy (saves hundreds of thousands of taxpayer money.)
· The staff at the jail and streets are underpaid and overworked under the current and past administration, millions of dollars are spent on OT, the morale is low.
· Forming licensed security teams for places of worship and training them on active shooter response, and assist with quarterly or semi-annual training,
· Community policing, ride along programs, citizen liaison, Sheriff’s Explorers program
· Involve community leaders in the Sheriff’s citizen academy and other sheriff’s programs.

- Regardless of my rank, I continue to work the streets while being on the adminstrative staff, I know what the people want, what the officers want, what command staff wants, and what the administrative staff overseeing the agency want and expect.
- I have reformed, reshaped, and built agencies from the ground up and know what is needed to make the Dallas Sheriff's Office a better place to work at, and to serve the community better.
